Hopewell Council #7103
World Day of Prayer for Peace
Weekend of September 11-12th
The Supreme Council of the Knights of Columbus resolved that September 11th be observed each year as a World Day of Prayer for Peace. The Hopewell Council of the Knights of Columbus invites you to join them in a prayer for peace in remembrance of September 11th.
September 11, 2001 - a day that will be remembered always for the terrible loss of life, we were told that more than ninety percent of people prayed that day. As we remember the ninth anniversary of 9/11, the parishioners are offered the opportunity to demonstrate the power of prayer in promoting peace thorough quiet reflection and community prayer. Peace is a gift from God and an essential part of Christian life.
“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven, for he makes the sun rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” Mt 6:44
Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
