Ultrasound exams, which are medically indicated throughout pregnancy for a variety of diagnostic reasons, use ultrasound waves to scan a woman’s abdomen, creating a picture or “sonogram” of the baby in her uterus. Without K of C support, most pregnancy care centers would be unable to purchase the ultrasound machines, each costing tens of thousands of dollars.
The Knights’ donation of a $40,000 GE Voluson P8 Ultrasound machine to the Lawrenceville Choice One Crisis Pregnancy Center ( web address: www.choiceonesupport.org ), the first such machine in Mercer County and second in the Diocese of Trenton, was made possible after months of fundraising by the Knights’ Centennial Chapter comprising the 11 Mercer County parish-based councils including Hopewell Council #7103. Hopewell was able to contribute to this cause through funds raised by the generous donation of our parishioners to the Right to Life Rose Sale.
