Robert Rushnak Honored as Knight of the Year

Council 7103 honored Past Grand Knight Robert Rushnak as the The Knight of the Year at the council's pasta dinner on November 15.   Bob has been a faithful Knight who started many initiatives during his term as Grand Knight, including the Shield Award which honors local police, firefighters, and emergency medical responders.  Bob has also been chair of the annual Tony Muscente Memorial Golf Outing, which is the council's largest fundraising activity.  On receiving the award, Bob said, "I think the 'Knight of the Year' is the highest tribute presented to a Knight with the exception of being elected as Worthy Grand Knight.  I accept it with a deep sense of appreciation from my Brother Knights with the realization that nothing in this world is accomplished without the assistance of others. With sincere humility, as well as gratitude, I thank all my Brother Knights for this honor."

Council 7103 Recognizes the Amantia Family as 2013-14 Family of the Year

The Amantia's are recognized for their contributions to the
parish of St. George.

The Amantia's are a mainstay of the St. George parish community.  Chris and Mark can be found regularly sitting together at mass with their four children, Alexis, Nick, Erin, and Grace.  Each of the children have, or are currently, altar servers at Mass.   The family regularly does delivery work for Meals on Wheels in the Ewing area.  Mark also serves on the Pastoral Council, is active on the St. George Scholarship Foundation Board, and is chair of the Facilities Committee.  Congratulations to one amazing and busy family!

Dolores Trumpovicz Named Council's Senior Citizen of the Year

Dolores (center holding plaque) is surrounded by friends and
family and Monsignor Jim Innocenzi who presented the award.

The Knights of Columbus Council #7103 recognized Dolores Trumpovicz as Senior Citizen of the Year for her energetic and valued contributions to St. George parish.   Dolores is a founding member of the parish Senior Citizen Group and is one of the prominent members of the St. George Hospitality Committee.  Delores also gives her time to the parish Social Concerns Committee, the Bereavement Committee, and the parish Bible Study Group.   You will also find her contributing her skills to the "Pins & Needles" circle which combines sewing and knitting skills with fellowship.  Congratulations to Dolores for all she does for St. George!

Council #7103 recognized Millie Rushnak as the "Knights of Columbus CCD Teacher of the Year" for her dedication and hard work in the Religious Education program at St. George Parish.  Millie is a retired teacher from the East Windsor School district and was recognized for her work by being named a New Jersey Governor's Award winner.  Millie has become the "go to" teacher for working with students one-on-one when the need arises.  Millie is also a member of the Social Concerns Committee and is involved with many ongoing projects throughout the year.  She also gives generously of her time to the Scholarship Committee, the Hospitality Committee, and the International Dinner Committee.  Thank you for all your hard work for the youth of our parish!

Freezin' for a Reason

For the third time in four years Bob Rushnak took the plunge into the Atlantic Ocean as part of the New Jersey Knights of Columbus POLAR PENGUINS.  After the first time, I crossed off running

into the ocean in February from my bucket list.  Today it was for the kids…for the Special Olympics.   I want to thank everyone – both friends and family for their support in making my donation possible.  I raised a total of $518.00, and the team  Knights of Columbus “Polar Penguins” raised $19,879 and finished in fourth place among the groups.  The total amount raised was over 1.5 million dollars that directly benefits Special Olympics and the athletes who compete in year round activities.
